UR Priceless Coin Purse

A while back I signed up for  a blog hop hosted by  Sew We Quilt  to make a coin purse. I loved the ones featured, and so I thought  (in my deluded state) that I would be able to make one of these without too much fuss! Firstly and most importantly read the pattern, I think thats where I went astray. I couldn't find the email that Katherine had sent me with this, so I made do with my own invention! It was all going very well until the frame was to be attached, i discovered the frame is larger than the purse. Groan. So I can either find a frame that is the right size, or make another bag. I might do both, but until then this is the sad result, go ahead and laugh, I bet you have done something similar once!
I still like it frameless!

This is the inside although I could still make it the outside

Bugger

Ah well back to the shop to find another frame, and the sewing machine to make another purse!
Hope your weekend is going well :)

I am not sure how, having the pattern, I managed to follow it all the way! I normally change my mind, and decide to do something not in the pattern half way through the project and then I always end up with an end result that it is not exactly what I wanted!

Eventually you will have many purses, and many frames. It will end up as many Christmas stocking stuffers! I am going to go to my JoAnns today to look for some purse clasps. I already looked at one store, and there was none. So off today to see if I can find some locally.

Oh, how those lessons are hard to swallow! The good news is that you will have a spectacular purse when you get a frame to fit it!

Oh my! I amn sorry, but I am shaking with laughter! This could have happened to me, loosing the link and than just try something, well it looks great as long as you don't show the clasp. I am sure that you will get the link again if you ask for it, and you will make a sweet purse, like the rest of us.
By the way, I love your fabric.

What a pretty "pouch". I guess you could always put a zipper on top. Or a drawstring.

Crap happens to the best of us! I'd get a magnetic closure add it and be done with this sweet purse and try for one to fit the frame. The fabric is gorgeous :)

It will be darling when it is on the right frame.

I noticed several different sized frames when I was at Joann's yesterday, perhaps you can just pick up a larger frame. Thanks for being so honest about the problem you had so we can be cautious when making these addictive little coin purses.

Goodness, I can tell you were disappointed - so was I. Your fabrics are just delicious and would love to have seen it completed. Surely, Katherine would send the pattern to you again and you could try it again. :)

It's funny, but I was seriously thinking of making a couple of these without the frame! The are cute and would make a great little jewelry or change holder to sit on the dress er in my spare bedroom.

♥Duff said...

well, the fabric is fabulous--what a perfect way to highlight Amy Butler's designs. I bet you can email Katherine for the pattern. good luck!

Rosie said...

You don't need another frame. The frame is how you cut your pattern and you use it as a template plus the seam allowance. Good try but and I have done this myself. Just go to YouTube and watch a tutorial, that's how I learned to make my purse with no pattern.
Hugs
