What? its June already?

The year is spinning along at an alarming rate,  I am still trying to keep up, could someone slow it down please I'm getting dizzy! Although it could be the virus affecting my brain at the moment, damn colds.

Well this is the latest quilt that I am in a dilemma about, what to quilt on it? Its not speaking to me at the moment, its gone all snobby french, "quoi?", and has made me nervous ! Oh well it can just sit there on its fancy white couch and pout!
So of course I will start another project, I'm thinking a nice down to earth kind, and have a lovely collection called urban cowgirl!

She will be perfect! I can see her in a lovely oatmeal backing, humming lullabies while doing the chores, ah a good country gal!

This is my work station, as my son keeps coming back home and kicking me out of his room, so its back to the dining table again!

What have you been up to? I"m linking up with Lily's Quilts for a lovely meeting with like minded bloggers, come and join us!

FNSI and Bloggers Quilt Festival

Handmade by HeidiIts been a while since any posting here, so in preparation for FNSI and the Bloggers Quilt festival, I have been working on trying to finish a couple of quilts. The quilting process is time consuming, and this is the largest quilt I have made, its a king size! You can join in at Crafty Vegas Mom, and also Amy has opened up the Bloggers quilt festival which should be fun.

a close up of the quilting, I made up my own leaf design

I didn't start out with this size in mind, it just grew, and grew! Just getting through the machine is a challenge even with a wide throat! This quilt will be one that will live on our lounge, its big enough for three! I had fun practicing my free motion quilting, something that I need to improve!
Anyway I am looking forward to all the beautiful creations on the link, hope you can join in!
~ Thank you to  Bobbie, Heidi and Amy for hosting the fun stuff ~

Visiting the mother land - Uk

Ok a follow up of the last post.

We are going to London in june, this time sans children, wondering the English countryside in summer seems like the perfect thing to do.

We will of course do Scotland, I have already been told by a Scottish friend that the best shopping is in Glasgow- who knew?

 And of course Edinburgh

It looks magical in winter, will we stay?
Perhaps in a couple of years.

life is too short

Last night had a tragic end as some of our staff worked so hard to save a young  life.
Everyday I am grateful for my family
I can live with the dirty floor, untidy bedrooms, and loads of washing.
Hug your kids everyday.
Dont sweat the small stuff.

Its alright in the end, and if it isnt alright then it isnt the end.

Thoughts
Weary from the days work, finding a comfortable place to rest.
A nice home cooked dinner with loved ones.
Soft fur on the dog, feels like cashmere.
Reminders of our past, living in the present.
Soft light filtering through the trees, mower in the distance.
Working towards something better,  maybe its already here.
Finding our balance in the universe, being at peace with ourselves.
Time - what is it?

Its alright in the end, and if it isnt alright then it isnt the end...

My new flexible spine

I have started a yoga class, which i thought would be a good way to stretch and relax. I was half right, we stretched alright, my legs and arms didnt know what had hit them! I thought about the animated movie  (what was that called?) with the stretchy mum, that would have been a handy asset! Anyway it was a good start, i learnt that your eyelids close from the top down, yes really. Ah i know i am a cynic, but i will go with it. Breath in, breath out, got it. Actually i think i had that one down since birth, but never mind. Standing tall then try to touch your toes, actually i havent done that in a long time! It turns out i havent really done any effective stretching for some time ! Despite the lack of flexibilty i did enjoy the class, and hopefully it will help my very stiff spine. This will be my inspiration, go girl!
