Meaning of Life?

I just read a condensed version of a book by  psychiatrist  Brian Weiss, called " Many Lives, Many Masters" which explores the past lives of one of his patients through hypnotherapy, this was a complete surprise, having no experience of this previously, and details quite specifically the diaglogue of his patient. It is an amazing recount of her reincarnations and the impacts of her past experiences on her present day life. Its a real confirmation of the beliefs that we do indeed have lessons to learn and we do not move on if we dont come to terms with previous issues in past lives. People are connected for a reason, through these lifetimes. It really does give us an answer for the meaning of life at last. There is a workshop right here where i live, next month, i discovered, right after a chance mention of the book by my chiro, so i will be going as long as there is a spot left for me! It will be an interesting 3 days!

FNSI

These are my current projects on the go:
The first one is a king size quilt - its sooo big! Its ready to be backed and quilted, which will be a challenge!
I used two layer cakes and just cut them into half square triangles and just bunged them together with sashing, its turned out fairly well i think!

This is a cute little quilt, all the pieces are cut and will be joined with sashing,
I think this will go to my English neighbour, she loves pinks and suble colours

Its still hot and humid here, the dog and i have been going for regular dips in the pool, much to her delight!
Hope you all had a great night, and thank you Heidi for hosting, you can check it out here.

Living the dream

Blogging has become sporadic, other things going on, but there is a little book i have almost finished reading, following atticus, which  is a beautiful tale of one man and his friend Atticus who happens to be a miniture schnauzer as they embark on treks through the alps, many over 4000ft. But its their friendship that is most amazing, Tom has such respect and admiration for his "Little Bug", he has poured all his emotions into his story, its truly a tale from the heart.  More than once I had tears rolling down my cheeks or burst into laughter, which confused poor Kara no end!  Tom and Atticus are living my dream, i hope to make it reality. Read it and enjoy.

There is a blog The Adventures of Tom and Atticus , which has the odd update of whats going on in their world.

Surprise !

I got a surprise! Carol from Madness and Mess in New Zealand sent me this lovely package of fabric, thank you so much Carole! I'm not sure what it will become at this stage.

this is Myrtle the turtle I made her the other day,

both sides are different

She can be a great pin cushion or entertain the baby, but not at the same time,
She's funny that way

Some half square triangles in progress, i had
them all laid out nicely, but forgot to take the photo
I am silly that way!

I hope the new year is panning out nicely, I think this will be an interesting year
maybe some difficult times, change, hard work,
learning along the way
to keep the most
important stuff
first

Year of the Water Dragon

Firstly Happy New Year, its the beginning of another year, although chinese new year is not until 23rd Jan, it is the chinese year of the water dragon, which is believed to be a power from heaven, and  is regarded as one of the most auspicious animals in china, woven into the robes of the emperors, even decorating doors pillars and rooftops. I will try to find one for the front door, i like dragons., and we have our own resident water dragon who frequents the edge of the pool, but its shy and scoots off at any movement, the dog has chased it a couple of times and found it up a tree !
In my little world not much changed on the first day, 12 hours at work, no time to think about anything, and flaked out on the couch trying to stay awake until 8.30 not very successfully!
Today, its the 2nd here already, was lovely just pottering around the garden, trying to decide where to plant a couple of gorgeous hibiscus that have the most beautiful orange flowers, the oregano i planted a while back has gone bonkers with all the warm and wet weather, chillis are starting to go from green to a bright fire engine glossy red, i love the look of them but they are fiery little buggers!
Later i wandered down to the beachside and had a new year drink with a couple of work mates, i do appreciate friends to have a laugh with, genuinely wonderful people, non judgemental, who know whats important in life.
So i think the motto "Dont count the days, make everyday count" will be my flavour of the day !

 Some garden delights

The vege patch will be under construction for a while, its become a weed patch!
Buon Anno!

new year resolutions

I think I will start this now. Yes before the clock ticks over to 2012, I am going to start getting organised.
Ok, here goes, what the, every time i hit the enter key this thing keeps just blinking away in the same spot, grr
Ok now where was i? Oh yeah,
1. Stop procrastinating. grr, this is really annoying, enter you stupid machine, today,
2. Start getting organsised. Oh i said that already, um let me see, i should be doing something, oh i know
3. Write purposeful posts, not just fluff that is eye candy, well its nice to look at pretty pictures all day, I must      admit, and i know of a couple of really well followed blogs that do just that, all smoke and mirrors, but i         guess thats what people like, not me, nooo...
4. Hmm, the grout looks grotty in this room, i should clean that, oh and i need to clean the kitchen cabinets, but i did spray the weeds yesterday, my god they have gone bonkers, hubby is not great at using the sprayer, he eyes it with disdain and stubbornly insists on hand weeding. The whole 5 acres. Seriously, the man is crazy. I need to find a gardener who doesnt charge the earth, i could pay in dirt actually, 5 acres of it. Now that would solve the weeding.
Now i found these amazing photographs by a gent on flicker, i couldnt stop looking at them, this is way more fun than weeding, or cleaning, i hope you like them too, real eye candy..did i just say that?

Following photos are by steve wall, his macro shots are stunning, little droplets of joy.

And just something nature provided for a laugh...

happy new year!

FNSI

I am trying to finish two quilts before the end of this year, one top done and another one almost finished with the freemotion quilting, which is fun ! I am getting better at it slowly !

I also found these lovely christmas thingys on this site at Frugal Living, I will have a go at the table runner, I tried some of the decorative stitches on my bertie, they will be just the thing, and will be tarting up the wreath!

Happy Sewing everyone, and thank you to Heidi for hosting again,

stars in my eyes

i think that's what i will call this quilt now that i have finally finished the top, it has taken me practically all year to get this far!
I will add a red and blue border to finish it off, hopefully before next year!

On another note I found a wonderful blog that struck a familiar chord with my own love of wondering around  the snowy mountains here in Oz.
Tom Ryan has written about his adventures with his little friend Atticus, which  I have not read as yet, but will be searching for this to read. You can find them at The Adventures of Tom and Atticus.
I love his page as it looks like mine !
