In search of a fandango jelly roll !

After a month of not doing any craft work, i am in serious withdrawal ! A quilt is in progress now, and i need to search for some more fabric in this range, so i am searching the net for more, which is satifying another craving! I keep finding lovely little fabric bundles, but this one is elusive.

This is a fairly simple pattern once the strips are cut into trinagles, it comes together quickly. I just need another jelly roll! Hope you all are having a very creative space in your home!

First Stop Hong Kong!

Well we have returned from our amazing euro trip, which was incredible. We saw so many fabulous things, the history and culture of centuries ago preserved in the middle of cities, on every corner, im sure we walked around with our mouths wide open the entire trip! There was so much to see, we could have spent months exploring, but we had to save some for another time, so i will show our holiday one country at a time with our first stop at Hong Kong.

The weather was cool when we arrived, which was unexpected on our behalf ! We quickly pulled out our euro coats and went to see the giant budda at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, this was truly amazing. The budda is enormous, and the surrounding monastery was beautiful even in the cold rain!

brr poor girl, she was cold, but the climb up the stairs warmed us up!

That was some of our Hong Kong adventure, next up is London, stay tuned!

Australian expedition

This is in the middle of Australia not far from where my husband worked at Santos, and a few km's! from the famous "dig tree" where they found Burkes body in 1861 after crossing the entire continent north to south. Only one man, John King survived the expedition.

This is the Dig Tree on the Coopers Creek, where on April 21st the main expedition left only 9 hours prior to the arrival of Bourke, Wills and King. That was 150 years ago.

The Dig Tree, although it is located outside the Reserve just over the border in Queensland, was the location of the base camp, where Burke, Wills and King returned from the north to find that the search party for them had just left in the morning of the day of their arrival. All the search party had left for them, were some burried supplies near the tree and a carved message in the Dig Tree. The carved message told them, where they should dig to find the supplies, hence the name Dig Tree. For more information about the Innamincka and the Burke and Wills expedition click here.

This is harsh country, its hot +40c and dry, with little to survive on, no wonder they perished.
